Mrs. Kash

It was my honor and privelege to drive Mrs. Kash in the King Park St. Patrick's Day Parade for the celebration of her 100th Birthday. We had such fun driving and talking. She kept asking if she was doing the "Royal Wave" correctly. People would look at the sign on my car and then at me and say 100??? I would yell back..No..not me and she would yell ME!!!! I'm 100!!! It's ME!!!   She told me stories the whole time about her life here in Kings Park, her children and mostly her daughter Anne. She talked about how she lived with Anne and what good care she took of her. She said how she used to worry about what would happen to Anne when she was gone, but now she realized that she would be all right. "She obviously knows what she's doing...look how she takes care of me. She'll be all right." We stopped on the corner and the whole town sang Happy Birthday to her. It was beautiful and she really enjoyed it.  I will miss her next year at the Multiclass Reunion. She came every year and "held court" with her Margherita in hand. She would greet her former students...most by name.....and enjoy taking pictures with each of them as they recalled their years in Kings Park Schools. We will certainly remember her next year at the Reunion and toast her with a Margherita....or two!!! Rest in Peace Mr. Kash.
