Obituary for Vera DeFord
Vera DeFord passed into the arms of her Savior Jesus Christ on October 24, 2022. She was a
beloved mother of Carol (Neil) McClain, Arthur (Kathy) DeFord, Marianne (Wilson) Willmott,
Robert (Leslie) DeFord, and Janine (William) Weisse. She left behind nineteen grandchildren
and nineteen great-grandchildren.
She was pre-deceased by husbands, Arthur DeFord, Don Lowman and Vin Rau and a son,
Alan DeFord.
As a physical therapist, she spent many years nurturing those in pain and training other
therapists in her own practice, Northport Physical Therapy. She mentored many people
struggling with a variety of problems. Her love stretched to the children of friends to young
adults to older women. Never did she turn from a person in need.
As a woman of faith, she attended CenterPoint Church from the day the original church had
been formed.
Generous to a fault, she worried more about others than herself. She will be greatly missed.
Calling hours will be on Tuesday, November 1st at Clayton Funeral Home, Inc. 25 Meadow Road,
Kings Park from 4-8pm, with a 7:15pm Religious Service. Closing Prayers will be Wednesday, November 2nd at 10am. Interment to follow at Calverton National Cemetery.
