Obituary for Charles McNulty Mattson

Mattson, Charles McNulty age 81 of Commack NY entered eternal rest on September 14, 2022.
The son of Rose and Lawrence Mattson, raised in Sunnyside NY, served in the Us Army and worked as an NYPD detective and lastly worked at Autorama Enterprises. He lived a joyous life, always ready to live life to the fullest. He married the love of his life Mary Ellen in 1970 and raised his family in Commack NY where he was a member of the Christ the King Church. Charlie was happiest with family or friends while fishing on his boat on the Long Island Sound, reading a good detective novel, working in his garden or, enjoying a party. He never met a person who he didn't consider a friend and would help out anyone who needed it. A proud Irish American and New Yorker, a loving husband, a dedicated father and, grandfather, the funny good time brother, often the favorite Uncle or family member and a loyal friend. He honestly will be missed by all.
Charlie is survived by his caring and devoted wife Mary Ellen (nee Burns), loving children Charles and Greta Mattson, Colleen and Matthew DiAntonio, grandchildren Matthew and Cassidy DiAntonio and Charles Lars Mattson. Also survived by his devoted sister Ann (Nancy), many and much loved sister and brother in laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends from all walks of life.

Services for Charles Mattson will be held at the Clayton Funeral Home. Visitation hours Thursday September 15 from 4pm to 8PM. Funeral mass at Christ the King parish on Friday September 16 at 10 AM and burial to follow at Long Island National Cemetery in Farmingdale Long Island.
