Obituary for Carmela Spuches

Carmela Spuches, 95, of Kings Park passed away, May 26, 2022. Carmela was born in
Brooklyn to Augustino and Rosaria Gurrieri on July 26, 1926. Carmela went by the nickname
Lena which was given to her by her mother. After graduating high school, she went on to attend
The Manhattan Trade School for Girls. Upon completion she then went on to work for the Ideal
Toy Company. For much of her life, she enjoyed being a homemaker raising both her own
children and helping raise her grandchildren. As her children grew, she got a part time job at
Loehmann’s where she enjoyed being involved in the fashion industry.
Carmela married her childhood sweetheart Concetto Spuches and they were blessed
with 64 years. They had three children together. Their son Stephen passed away in 1986.
Carmela is survived by her daughter Adele Geller and her son Salvatore Spuches. Four
grandchildren Amaris DeRossett, Lissa Bader, Michael and Stephen Spuches. Six great
grandchildren Grace, Jack and Sophia DeRossett, Angelo Spuches, and Ava and Dylan Bader.
Carmela loved to travel and had been all over the world. She loved food and was a
fantastic cook often hosting elaborate family dinners. She was a friend to everyone she met and
was immensely proud of her family leaving behind nothing but beautiful memories. She was
deeply loved and will be equally missed.
