Obituary for Katherine Harbourne Brinsmead
Katherine Harbourne Brinsmead, daughter of Katherine and Edward Martell, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, ascended to heaven on October 21, 2021 after a 16-month battle with small cell lung cancer. She was 72 years old.
Kathy was an inspiration to her family and friends, not because she never stopped fighting to live, but because of the way she lived her life, always faithful, thoughtful, sweet, selfless, and kind. She cherished her family and friends equally and always exuded love in word and deed. She loved to laugh and brought unimaginable joy to everyone who was privileged to know her. The world is certainly a lesser place without her, but heaven has gained a beautiful angel.
Kathy, a lifelong resident of Kings Park and a proud parishioner of St. Joseph's R.C.C. is survived by her husband Jeremy Brinsmead, her son and daughter-in-law Christopher and Tammy Harbourne, daughter and son-in-law Katherine and Scott Rath, son Kenneth Brinsmead, grandchildren Shannen and Christopher Eschmann, Brittany, and Lili, her precious great-grandson Liam, her brother and sister-in-law James and Diane Martell, niece Alicia, and nephews Daniel and Nicholas.
Visitation will be held at Clayton's Funeral Home in Kings Park on Monday, October 25th from 3 to 7 pm. Funeral mass will be offered at St. Joseph's RC Church on Tuesday, October 26th at 9:30 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Visiting Nurse Service Hospice House in East Northport, NY.
