Norman W Hatch, Sr, age 93, of Huntington, NY died peacefully on July 15, 2021, following a lengthy illness.

Norman was born in Canaan, NY on December 18, 1927, to Lewis Vosburgh Hatch and Ada Asher Hatch. Following graduation from New Lebanon High School in 1945, Norman enlisted in the US Navy where he honorably served in the South Pacific from 1945 to 1948. He was a member of the Naval Reserves and was recalled to active duty during the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1951.

Following his discharge from military service, Norman met the love of his life, Frances Gatti Hatch of Oyster Bay, NY. The two married in 1952 and eventually settled in Huntington, NY, in the home they raised their family for 65 years.

Norman was a heavy equipment operator from 1951 until his retirement in 1990. He worked on various construction projects in upstate New York and on Long Island through the International Union of Operating Engineers.

Norman had many hobbies such as boating, fishing, and gardening. He loved the outdoors and was very proud of his vegetable garden. He also treasured the 25 summers he spent after retirement at his camp at Fern Lake, in the Adirondack Mountains.

Norman is survived by his wife of 69 years Frances, his daughter Debra Zindulka, son Norman Hatch, Jr, grandchildren Christine Zindulka and Matthew Zindulka, and great grandchildren Savanah and Isaiah Compere, and Jackson, Charles, and Travis Zindulka.

Norman was predeceased by his first child, Charles Hatch, who passed at birth. As the last remaining member in his family, Norman was also predeceased by two sisters and four brothers.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staffs of the St. Johnland Nursing Center in Kings Park, NY, and the Meadowbrook Rehabilitation Center in Plattsburgh, NY, for the wonderful care they provided to Norman during his prolonged illness.

Norman’s remains were entrusted to the Clayton Funeral Home in Kings Park, NY
