Obituary for Joan E. Ingulli

Joan Tarquino Ingulli

Joan Tarquino Ingulli was born at St Vincent’s Hospital on February 15, 1952 and grew up in Staten Island but San Remo was her real “home”. Joan was the beloved daughter of Madeline and Milton Tarquino. She was a devoted mother to her three sons, Charles, Michael, and Matthew and a loving grandmother to Madeline. Everyone who knew Joan would describe her as a very witty, strong-willed lady. Her unique antics all made us smile at one time or another.
Joan had a lifelong career as a health care professional and was passionate about her work. She began as a teenager working at Clove Lakes Nursing home in Staten Island. She then went on to nursing school and began working at Coney Island Hospital. She also worked at Utopia Home Care and St. Johnland nursing home and finished her career at Kings Park State Hospital. She was so proud to be a nurse that even years after retiring, she still carried her nursing certification in her purse in the event someone needed her help.
For many of us, Joan was only a phone call away for any medical questions. As expected, she always had the right answer. Joan was also a person that lived in her memories, who always had a story to share from her experiences which was part of her innate nature to continuously seek to help others. Joan also had a deep love of animals. Even with her limited funds, she always managed to find a way to donate to her many animal organizations.
Joan would never think about moving from her sanctuary in San Remo. She loved her local friends and neighbors. Joan will be missed by all who knew her. She will remain in our thoughts and prayers. On Sunday, December 13th, 2020 Joan passed away peacefully in her home in San Remo. She is now in her new “home” with her sweet Nelly and will be always be our guardian angel.
