Obituary for Joan V. Teigue
TEIGUE- Joan V. (nee Elliott). Cherished wife of the late Joseph Teigue Sr.. Devoted daughter of the late Charles and Vera Elliott. Devoted mother of Joseph Jr. (Sue), Michael (Debbie) and Kelly Maloney (James). Cherished grandmother of David, Brian, Kim and Colleen Teigue, Casey Giovanniello (Teigue), Laura Dolan (Maloney), Katie and Bryan Maloney. Adored great grandmother of Gabriel DeJoseph, Aiden and Austin Teigue, Dominick Giovanniello, Aydriana Teigue, Colin and Ryan Dolan and Charlie and Wes Maloney. Loving sister of Carol Hansen and Diane Impellizzieri.
Joan graduated from the Brooklyn School of Nursing and met the love of her life, Joe Teigue, while doing her nursing rotation at KPSH. They married and settled in Kings Park to raise their family. Joan worked at Huntington Hospital in the ICU where she developed friendships with her colleagues that she would cherish for a lifetime. Joan eventually became head nurse of CCU, where she mentored many nurses. Known for her boundless energy, professionalism and an advocate of patients rights, Joan was a nurse’s nurse.
Joan and her husband Joe, relocated to the Great Outdoors in Titusville, Fla in 1995. They enjoyed golfing together and making even more cherished friends.
A memorial service will be held at a future date. She will be interred alongside her husband at
Calverton National Cemetery.
