William V. Burke, 81 passed away on May 18, 2020. He resided in Smithtown, NY with his loving wife, of almost 60 years, Anita. He is also survived by his 3 loving children, Thomas, Patricia and Timothy, as well as seven grandchildren. Bill AKA Billy proudly retired from the Suffolk County PD in April 1990 after 20+ years in the 4th precinct. He was adored and loved by so many. When you ask anyone who knew him what he was like, they all would say he was a fun loving man. Between friends, family and his career he touched so many lives. He was an extremely caring and giving man. He would volunteer his spare time. For example, in his early career he helped with the SCPD police explorers to help teenage children. If you were a friend and needed help working on your house he would drop everything and be right over. After all that is what he loved and was an expert at. He was very loved and will be extremely missed. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private family service will be held on June 3 at the Clayton Funeral Home in Kings Park, NY with interment at Calverton National Cemetery and the memorial service at a future date.
