Sad this morning after receiving news last night of the sudden death of my longtime friend Henry Connick back on Long Island. We had last spoken on Easter Sunday. He was in good spirits and was taking his daughters to dinner. Henry and his wife Anke, who passed away from cancer only 5 months ago, were dear friends of mine for some 35 years. Henry was a trusted good friend, mentor and a second father figure at times. Over the years he did my new construction excavating and sanitary systems installation, owned John Scott's Raw Bar on Dune Road,Connick's Corner and Tony's in Kings Park ,the Riviera (now Mikes Place in Shirley, Westhampton Beach Taxi and Westhampton Beach Liquors. He was also a former Fire Chief and Commissioner in Kings Park. Henry enjoyed his reputation as a tough old school Irishman yet he had a big heart and will be remembered and missed by all who knew him. Rest in Peace my friend........ May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
