Condolences

Condolence From: Lauren Serra
Condolence: Joe was one in a million. He was my oldest of 13 cousins. He could make me laugh so hard. He always talked about babysitting me as a toddler, when we went out for Chinese food & I threw rice everywhere! He was such an honest, honorable man in every regard. He approached life with humor & strength. I have such wonderful memories of spending time with him at the house in Kings Park, on Poppi’s boat, & of course at Labor Day! That has always been one of my favorite holidays because I would get to spend the whole day with him & his family. I was lucky enough to spend so much more time with him since he moved back to NY. We had some wonderful Easters & Christmases together. He brought an amazing wife & friend to our family, Tina. And together, they blessed our family with two fantastic, huggable, lovable boys, Gavin & Griffin. He also leaves behind a wonderful mother, my Aunt Pat. Joe was a king among peasants. He is already deeply missed. I KNOW we will all see him again someday. Thanks for paving the way to heaven for us Joe! Can’t wait to see you again. XOXOXO

Condolence: My cousin Joe was a very special person and loved my many. He lived a good, clean life and always did the right thing by people. He was a fun-loving, caring, good-natured, kind person with a great sense of humor and quick wit. There were always lots of laughs when Joe was around and lots to talk about as Joe was a master conversationalist. He was the oldest of 13 cousins and my mom made sure we spent as much time as possible with Joe's family. I have many memories from growing up with Joe...seeing him perform in his school band, playing in his basement or pool and with his many german shepherds at his home in Kings Park, the many trips to Tobay beach on Grandma Grace and Poppy's boat, going to see the Yankees play, the fun we had at the annual Labor Day party and spending Christmas and Easter together after he moved back to New York. Joe was a loving husband and father to Tina, his amazing wife, and their two precious children, Gavin and Griffin. No matter what difficult times Joe faced in his life he was a positive force and handled anything and everything with grace. It's amazing how many good people (friends, neighbors, family) Joe was surrounded by and I think its because he was a really good person too. I love you Joe and I miss you.

Condolence: I just can’t believe my old friend is gone. Joe’s light shined so incredibly bright. He projected passion in everything he did. He could be fiercely protective and equally hold others accountable. I met Joe more than 30 years ago and spent many hours working alongside him at his family’s business – talking, laughing, eating, listening to music and talk radio, playing Wiffle Ball. I considered him to be an older brother. I still remember the very first time I met him and how personable he was and how welcome he made me feel. He was kind and among the funniest people I ever met. He was one of the few people I’ve ever known that could make me laugh uncontrollably. If he enjoyed my company just a portion of how much I enjoyed his then I would feel really good about that. As the years passed, I always hoped I would have an opportunity to see him again. I’m so thankful I was able to reconnect with him on Facebook and exchange some personal messages with him during his final months. I’m going to miss you, Joe – and will always love you. My deepest condolences to Tina, Gavin, Griffin, his mom, Patricia – and his entire family.
