Harry always loved his older cousins, Ann and John. When they lived in Fresh Meadows he often spent time in their apartment visiting and sometimes stayed for dinner. Years later when I met them for the first time they were very friendy and gracious to me. Over the years Harry always said Ann made the best lasagna, that meant mine came in second best . Many months ago we spoke with Ann on the phone and again Harry gave her special recognition for her cooking.
I received the call that Ann had died and went to tell Harry. His first reaction was his loss of her and her many kindnesses over the years. Then he mentioned yet again Ann made the best lasagna. He smiled through his tears while I looked over at the table where his dinner plate still sat. That night over all others he had eaten lasagna. As I pointed it out to him, I said "Ann said good bye to you" !
Perhaps a silly coincidence or perhaps someone saying goodbye ! Rest in peace Ann.
